Jane’s family came to New Ground from a homeless shelter.  Her mom could not afford market rent for the family of four even though she was working fulltime.

Upon the family’s graduation from the New Ground Program, Jane shared the following:

“Because of you, I attended a great school. I want you to know that I appreciate all that you have done for me.  Without an education, I wouldn’t have a successful life.  You not only gave me hope but inspiration.”

Jane’s mom completed a vocational program while with New Ground, and then secured a fulltime position in her new field earning a significantly higher salary.  She utilized these funds to pay down her debts, increase her credit score and create a savings.  The family graduated into a market rent apartment in 2005.  Over the years, Jane’s mom has been in contact sporadically with New Ground, sharing updates about their lives and successes.

“Everyone is doing so well.  Jane graduated college and is now pursuing a Master Degree and working fulltime.  Joe also finished college at a culinary school and is working as a chef and really loves it.  My youngest is getting ready to graduate high school and trying to figure out what she wants to study.  But having seen her older brother and sister succeed, she knows she can do it.  I think that is what New Ground gave all of us!  The belief that we could do it – and we are.”
