Reading All Stars Service Program

You can help families like Donna’s realize their education goals.

Donna and her three children were living in a rundown apartment without working utilities. The stress and uncertainty of their housing situation was directly impacting the children’s school work.  After placement in the long term housing program, the children joined New Ground’s tutoring program to catch up with their school work.

“I feel that I did a good amount of work to move my family forward, especially in the area of education, securing my own higher degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, ensuring that my oldest daughter graduated from high school and then college with a Bachelor Degree in accounting, assisting my second daughter with finishing high school and getting her Bachelor Degree in Nursing, and finally seeing that my son did well in school. He made the Honor Roll regularly in high school and I just recently attended his college graduation. All of us needed tutoring at one time or another to get us through to where we are today. The tutors and this help were invaluable for us!”

After seven years of hard work with New Ground heavily focused on her family’s education goals, she secured a market rent apartment in a neighborhood with good schools for her younger children. In the years since leaving us, all of her children graduated high school and went on to complete higher education programs continuing to fulfill their mother’s goals for a brighter future.
