You can bring joy and wonder to children and parents by adopting a family for one holiday or for an entire year!
Tina and her three daughters became homeless when her landlord decided to sell his home and she could not find any affordable rental options on her severely limited income. She spent her time with New Ground securing employment, improving her credit, ensuring her daughters’ academic success, and saving to move into independent housing. But she was always grateful for the little things that brought joy to her family when nothing else could.

The Special Memories Service Program
With the generosity of donors and volunteers, New Ground helps families and Veterans celebrate special holidays and other occasions:
- For the December holidays, gift cards, new toys and clothing are distributed to parents and Veterans.
- A Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings is given to every household.
- Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are celebrated with cards, gifts and special gatherings.
- Halloween costumes are provided when needed for all children.
- To mark their special day all program participants receive a birthday card in the mail.
- Moving logistics including the help of a moving company.
- Furniture, household items, linens and all the necessities to outfit a new home.
