We are thrilled to announce that our 2024 Máiréad M. Barrett Founder’s Award winner, Elise Henry, has joined New Ground’s Board of Directors!
Elise Henry is an esteemed Clinical Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the Occupational Therapy department at York College CUNY. With 30 years of experience in schools, hospitals, and private clinics, she holds master’s degrees in both Occupational Therapy and Public Health from Columbia University and is pursuing her PhD in Educational Psychology. She is an active member of the NYS Black Occupational Therapy Caucus where she co-chairs the Academic Committee. One of her passions is speaking on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and its impact in education and business settings.
For almost 10 years, Elise has been an invaluable member of New Ground’s Advisory Board and joined the Program Committee in 2019. Her dedication and expertise to helping others and fostering the next generation throughout her career exemplifies New Ground’s mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness on Long Island.
We cannot wait to see what amazing things she does as a part of our Board of Directors!
