On Friday, November 7, we had the honor of partnering with The NY Islanders for their Hockey With A Heart Program at their Military Appreciation Night game!
This past Friday, New Ground staff and volunteers were scattered around the UBS Arena concourse in lieu of Veteran’s Day hoping to spread the word about our mission. New Ground, alongside United Heroes and LI Warriors, were able to fundraise for The NY Islanders 50/50 Raffle – the proceeds benefitting not only the Islanders Children’s Foundation, but all the volunteering non-profits. By the end of the game, we were able to collectively raise over $30,000 in which a portion was donated to support New Ground’s programs to help our Veterans and families. We were also able to see our Executive Director, Shannon Boyle, on the big screen!
A huge thank you our friends at UBS Arena and the NY Islanders for such a wonderful opportunity – it was truly a magical night of community and celebration of our Veterans. And of course, thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this event a huge success!
