A Veteran in our Veterans Program has been working on his housing and employment goals in New Ground’s Financial Literacy Service Program and Career Development Service Program. After weeks of working intensely on his resume and career plan, and a subsequent job search with Salina Barnao and our social work interns, he secured employment in his chosen field. He is in a homeless shelter and needs to secure some level of income to get approved for a VASH housing voucher to help him afford his own apartment. Upon obtaining his new job, he sent an email to his social worker stating, “you guys at New Ground have helped me to feel more engaged about life, and more hopeful for the future. Thank you.”
